Field-Based Consultant for SALW Fellowship (In-Person)

About the role

The Office for Disarmament Affairs seeks a field‑based consultant to support the 2026 SALW Fellowship programme across West Africa. Working on‑site in Lome, Togo and Benin, you will adapt training materials, monitor project impact and facilitate capacity‑building sessions for participants.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a monitoring and impact‑tracking tool for the SALW Fellowship cohort.
• Adapt and deliver online and in‑person training modules, including French‑language content.
• Research and produce background documents on illicit small arms and light weapons trends in Africa.
• Facilitate at least two capacity‑building sessions per country on SALW control and related policy frameworks.
• Coordinate with fellowship participants, national authorities, regional bodies and civil‑society organisations.
• Plan, coordinate and support in‑country training activities in Togo and Benin.
• Contribute to monitoring and evaluation, preparing reports, lessons learned and strategic recommendations.

Required profile

• Experience developing monitoring tools and tracking project outcomes.
• Proven ability to adapt and deliver training materials for multilingual audiences.
• Research expertise on small arms, light weapons and disarmament issues in Africa.
• Strong facilitation skills for capacity‑building workshops.
• Effective coordination with diverse stakeholders, including governments and NGOs.
