RN Pre-Op & Recovery PRN

About the role

We are seeking a PRN Registered Nurse to provide pre‑operative and recovery care in a high‑volume outpatient surgery center, primarily serving orthopedic patients. This position offers flexible, as‑needed shifts in a fast‑paced, same‑day surgery environment.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in delivering nursing care to patients undergoing same‑day surgery.
• Assume full responsibility for patient care in accordance with physician orders and center policies.
• Monitor and control the use and charging of supplies.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered, ensuring proper documentation.
• Assess pain and nausea, provide appropriate medication, and discharge patients per facility guidelines.
• Maintain patient privacy, provide psychological support, and coordinate with physicians and external departments.
• Perform routine charging of medications and supplies, and ensure accurate charge sheets.
• Function independently in emergencies, making quick, sound decisions.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing school.
• Current Registered Nurse license.
• Current American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications.

Required skills

• Proficiency in medication administration and documentation.
• Ability to assess pain, nausea, and post‑operative conditions.
• Knowledge of supply management and charging procedures.
