Forestry Economist Consultant (Togo)

About the role

The Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) seeks an experienced Forestry Economist Consultant to support the "Strengthening Resilience to Climate Change of Vulnerable Populations through Sustainable Forestry Resources Management" project in Togo. The consultant will work closely with the Togolese Ministry of the Environment, Forest Resources, Coastal Protection and Climate Change and the Korea Forest Service to deliver a detailed baseline for 2,000 hectares of planting sites.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct site‑specific baseline assessments for the 2,000‑hectare planting areas across Avé, Tchamba, Dankpen and Oti regions.
• Collect and analyse data on local resource users, financial conditions, and traditional community rules.
• Prepare technical and financial reports that inform reforestation, shea tree management, and climate‑resilience strategies.
• Coordinate with local cooperatives, women and youth groups, and government agencies to ensure data accuracy and relevance.
• Deliver final deliverables in line with the project’s schedule and quality standards.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in Forestry, Environmental Economics, Natural Resource Management or a related field.
• Proven experience conducting baseline studies and economic assessments in forest‑related projects.
• Familiarity with the socio‑economic context of West Africa, preferably Togo.
• Strong analytical and report‑writing skills, with ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines.
