Food Service Associate – Patient Meal Service

About the role

The Food Service Associate works under the direction of the Chef Manager to provide meal and snack service for residents and patients at the Douglas County Health Center. This position ensures trays are accurately assembled, delivered on schedule, and that food safety standards are consistently met.

Key responsibilities

• Assemble resident/patient trays with pre‑made foods and beverages, verify accuracy, and load trays onto carts.
• Deliver trays to dining areas, retrieve them according to the established schedule, and handle late or special‑order items.
• Monitor and document dish machine and refrigerator temperatures, and label perishable items with dates.
• Perform cleaning duties including sanitizing work areas, washing pots/pans, and maintaining kitchen floors.
• Report unsafe conditions, respond to emergency codes, and comply with all safety and privacy regulations.
• Assist with new employee orientation and participate in quality assessment activities.

Required profile

• High school diploma, equivalent, or current high school enrollment.
• At least six (6) months of experience in food service or customer service.
• Age 16 years or older.
• Food Handler Serve Clean certification obtained within 30 days of hire and renewed every two years.
• Successful completion of a pre‑employment criminal record check, physical assessment, and conditional drug screen.
