Manager 1 – Welfare & Self‑Reliance

About the role

The successful candidate will lead Welfare and Self‑Reliance initiatives, supporting individuals and families to become self‑sufficient while addressing both temporal and spiritual needs. Reporting to the Area Welfare/Self‑Reliance Manager, the role involves extensive travel across the service area to build partnerships with employers, educational institutions, and community resources.

Key responsibilities

• Support Church leaders in implementing self‑reliance programs, setting goals, training facilitators, and evaluating outcomes.
• Deliver general and specialized welfare training to local leaders and partner organizations.
• Develop and maintain relationships with employers, schools, government agencies, and self‑employment networks to secure resources.
• Serve as primary contact for urgent welfare needs, preventative measures, and emergency requests.
• Provide technical training, mentorship, and ongoing support to ward and stake self‑reliance specialists.
• Monitor effectiveness of tools and services, reporting on performance and recommending improvements.
• Complete administrative duties, including progress and expense reporting.

Required profile

• Current valid temple recommend.
• Bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in business, sales, marketing or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum five years of professional experience, including work with mid‑ to senior‑level management, start‑ups, sales, marketing or business development.
• Proven ability to train large groups and mentor individuals.
• Leadership experience with understanding of welfare principles and ability to influence religious leaders.
• Knowledge of employment and labor regulations.
• Strong analytical, creative, and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work from a mobile office.
