Patient Mediator – Full‑time, Sokodé

About the role

The Patient Mediator ensures clear, respectful communication between patients, their families, medical staff and administrative teams, fostering positive healthcare experiences in a full‑time, on‑site position at a hospital in Sokodé.

Key responsibilities

• Meet with patients and families to understand concerns and guide them through hospital procedures.
• Document issues, coordinate with clinical and non‑clinical staff, and follow up to ensure resolutions are implemented.
• Support patient‑education initiatives and encourage feedback to improve service quality.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and uphold confidentiality and ethical standards.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal, communication and active‑listening abilities.
• Proven conflict‑resolution, negotiation and problem‑solving skills in sensitive situations.
• Organizational and documentation competence with accurate record‑keeping.
• Basic knowledge of healthcare processes, patient rights and confidentiality; experience in a clinical setting is a plus.
• Ability to work full‑time on‑site in Sokodé, collaborate with diverse teams and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficiency in local languages and written/spoken English or French.
• Diploma or degree in social work, psychology, counseling, healthcare administration or related field preferred.
• High empathy, cultural sensitivity and commitment to patient‑centered care.
