Space Applications Expert – Earth Observation & Copernicus

About the role

We are looking for a highly qualified Space Applications Expert to support the “Support to the Africa‑EU Space Partnership Programme – AESPP Boost” project. The expert will lead the development, deployment and uptake of Earth Observation services and applications, with a focus on solutions built on Copernicus data that address Africa’s development, climate and environmental challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Design and deliver Earth Observation services and applications using Copernicus data for sectors such as early‑warning, climate monitoring, agriculture, water management and biodiversity.
• Support the integration of EO products into African institutional workflows and promote user uptake.
• Provide technical guidance and capacity‑building to partner organisations across Africa.
• Contribute to the preparation of project proposals and reports for the Africa‑EU Space Partnership Programme.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in geomatics, remote sensing, environmental science, meteorology, engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of professional experience in Earth Observation, geospatial services or climate/environmental services.
• At least 4 years of experience designing or delivering EO services with Copernicus data.
• Excellent command of English; knowledge of French or Portuguese is an asset.
• Experience working with African institutions or on African user uptake is a plus.
