Economist – Open-ended position in Togo

About the role

The Economist will join the Fiscal Policy and Growth (FPG) Global Practice within the Western and Central Africa Region, based in Togo. Working under the Senior Country Economist and Lead Economist, the role supports the preparation and delivery of Development Policy Operations and provides macro‑economic, fiscal‑policy and trade analysis to client governments.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and deliver Development Policy Operations using IDA and IBRD resources.
• Conduct macro‑economic, fiscal‑policy, debt‑sustainability and growth analyses for client countries.
• Provide analytical and advisory support to Country Management Units and senior staff.
• Draft policy notes, reports and briefing materials for client engagements.
• Collaborate with field teams across the 13‑country EAWM1 unit to ensure integrated delivery of services.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (PhD or Master) in Economics or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience in macro‑economics, fiscal policy, or development economics.
• Strong analytical and quantitative abilities.
• Fluency in English and French.
• Willingness to work on‑site in Togo and travel within the region.
