FAO Representative – Togo

About the role

The FAO Representative leads the FAO country programme in Togo, based in Lomé. Reporting to the Assistant Director‑General/Regional Representative, the role provides overall strategic direction, ensures effective delivery of FAO’s mandate and represents FAO within the United Nations Country Team.

Key responsibilities

• Advise the Government of Togo on policies and investments related to food security, agriculture and agrifood systems.
• Provide technical assistance and deliver core FAO services to strengthen national capacities.
• Mobilise resources and foster partnerships to support agrifood transformation.
• Position FAO as the authoritative technical agency on agriculture and food security in the country.
• Ensure risk‑smart, accountable and efficient operations of the country office.
• Collaborate closely with the UN Country Team and the Humanitarian Country Team where relevant.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level experience in agriculture, food security or related sectors, preferably within the UN system.
• Proven leadership and management skills for overseeing multi‑disciplinary teams and programmes.
• Strong track record in policy advice, resource mobilisation and partnership development.
• Excellent communication and diplomatic skills for high‑level stakeholder engagement.
