Group Lead, Financial Auditing, Regulatory Reporting & Compliance

About the role

The Group Lead, Financial Auditing, Regulatory Reporting & Compliance oversees financial control, audit operations, regulatory reporting and compliance across the Ecobank Group. The role establishes frameworks, plans, executes and reports on financial, regulatory and compliance audits in line with risk‑based methodology and International Standards for Internal Auditing.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement financial control policies, audit programs and testing procedures to ensure accurate financial statements in accordance with IFRS, IAS and local GAAP.
• Conduct risk assessments, design risk‑based audit programs and review audit findings across affiliates, presenting results to senior management and the board.
• Oversee regulatory reporting, ensuring timely and accurate submission of reports and compliance with Basel II/III frameworks.
• Lead the compliance function, develop audit checklists, monitor anti‑money‑laundering and terrorist financing controls, and provide regular compliance reporting.
• Drive continuous improvement by embedding IIA standards, automation tools (AI, OCR, ML, RPA) and aligning audit tools with enterprise systems such as ERP platforms and IFRS 9 engines.

Required profile

• Demonstrated integrity, objectivity and the ability to proactively identify key risks and build partnerships with stakeholders.
• Strong insight into financial regulations, audit standards and the capacity to provide strategic advisory support to senior management.

Required skills

• IFRS, IAS and local GAAP knowledge
• IIA internal audit standards
• Basel II/III regulatory frameworks
• Experience with AI, OCR, Machine Learning and RPA automation tools
• Proficiency in ERP platforms, IFRS 9 engines and consolidation tools
