Human Resources Bilingual Leave of Absence Specialist

About the role

The Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist will manage employee leave programs, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as well as company policies. This full‑time position serves as the primary point of contact for employees requesting or currently on leave, providing clear communication and support throughout the process.

Key responsibilities

• Process, track, and manage leave requests in accordance with FMLA, ADA, California leave laws (CFRA, PDL, PFL, SDI, FEHA, WC) and internal policies.
• Maintain accurate leave records in HRIS or dedicated leave management systems.
• Coordinate return‑to‑work procedures, including accommodation requests when needed.
• Educate employees and managers on leave policies and procedures.
• Support HR initiatives related to wellness, absence management, and employee relations.
• Assist the HR Manager with special projects, policy development, and process improvements.

Required profile

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of HR experience with at least 3 years focused on leave administration.
• Strong knowledge of federal and California leave laws (FMLA, ADA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, SDI, FEHA, Workers’ Compensation).
• Professional communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish.
