Certified Surgical First Assistant

About the role

We are seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant to join our multidisciplinary surgical team. The successful candidate will support surgeons across a variety of specialties, ensuring optimal patient positioning, intra‑operative assistance, and postoperative care.

Key responsibilities

• Communicate the surgeon’s preferences and specific patient needs to the entire surgical team.
• Position patients to provide the necessary exposure for each procedure.
• Perform intra‑operative tasks such as visualization, trocar insertion, local anesthetic injection, hemostasis, tissue handling, wound‑drain placement, and closure of body planes.
• Operate open, laparoscopic, and robotic equipment required for each case.
• Execute technical maneuvers including clamping, cauterizing, suturing, inserting, injecting, manipulating, retracting, cutting, and ligating tissue.
• Apply appropriate suturing techniques according to surgeon preference to close incisions.
• Provide postoperative care including dressing application, patient transfer, hand‑off of care, and monitoring for immediate complications.
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure continuity of care throughout the patient’s journey.

Required profile

• Current Certified Surgical First Assistant credential.
• Demonstrated experience in multispecialty surgical cases is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of operating‑room protocols and patient safety standards.
