General Merchandise Lead

About the role

Meijer is looking for a General Merchandise Lead to drive daily operations and deliver an exceptional shopping experience. In this role you will guide a team of associates, ensure product freshness, and uphold safety and service standards across the department.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor team members to achieve customer service and sales targets.
• Assign daily tasks, monitor performance, and provide on‑the‑job coaching.
• Oversee product rotation, dating, and freshness to maintain quality standards.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and store safety policies.
• Manage ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product display activities.
• Participate in register operations and cash handling when needed.
• Support training of new hires and cross‑training of high‑potential talent.
• Assist leadership with schedule planning to boost engagement and profitability.

• Demonstrated ability to build rapport quickly and drive repeat business.
