About the role
Meijer is looking for a General Merchandise Team Leader to oversee daily operations across multiple store departments. You will mentor staff, drive sales, and ensure a fast, friendly shopping experience for customers.
Key responsibilities
- Plan, direct, and supervise team members in various store departments.
- Coach and mentor staff to achieve customer service and sales goals.
- Maintain store appearance, product presentation, and compliance with company standards.
- Handle staffing, hiring, and succession planning.
- Apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations on terminations.
- Manage P&L, achieve sales targets, and control shrink.
- Promote a safe work environment and ensure consistent attendance.
Required profile
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 2‑3 years of retail experience and at least 1 year of management experience.
- Experience rotating through departments such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, and customer service is helpful.
- Strong communication, conflict‑resolution, and multitasking abilities.
- Ability to analyze financial and statistical data to make informed decisions.
