Head of Accounting Department

About the role

The Head of the Accounting Department leads the company's accounting function, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations, and alignment with strategic objectives. This senior position oversees a team of accountants and collaborates closely with finance, HR, and other departments.

Key responsibilities

• Produce reliable monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Manage compliant accounting closes and tax/social security filings.
• Develop and maintain financial dashboards and performance analyses.
• Lead internal and external audit preparation and coordination.
• Drive continuous improvement of accounting procedures and tools.
• Contribute to the company’s financial strategy and risk management.
• Oversee day‑to‑day general, auxiliary and analytical accounting.
• Ensure strong internal controls, cash‑flow management and fixed‑asset tracking.
• Coach, train and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of rigor and ethics.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Auditing or equivalent.
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience.
• Proven experience managing an accounting team.
• Strong knowledge of local and international taxation.
• Excellent analytical, organizational and communication skills.
• Professional proficiency in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle or Sage.
• Deep understanding of accounting standards.
