Bilingual Human Resources Leave of Absence Specialist

About the role

The Leave of Absence (LOA) Specialist supports employees throughout the leave process, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This full‑time, onsite position works Monday‑Friday, 8 am‑5 pm, and requires bilingual communication in English and Spanish.

Key responsibilities

• Process, track, and manage leave requests (FMLA, ADA, CFRA, PDL, PFL, SDI, etc.) in line with laws and company policies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for employees requesting or currently on leave.
• Maintain accurate leave records in HRIS or dedicated leave management systems.
• Coordinate return‑to‑work procedures, including accommodation requests.
• Educate employees and managers on leave policies and support related HR initiatives.
• Assist the HR Manager with special projects and process improvements.

Required profile

• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (preferred).
• 5+ years of HR experience, with at least 3 years in leave administration.
• Strong knowledge of FMLA, ADA, HIPAA, and California‑specific leave laws.
• Professional communication skills and ability to handle sensitive information discreetly.

Required skills

• Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
• Experience with HRIS and leave management platforms such as Dayforce, Sage HRMS, Workday, ADP, Kronos
• Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish
