Import Export Coordinator – Customs Management (Lomé, Togo)

About the role

The Import Export Coordinator will lead all customs-related activities for a solar‑cell factory in Lomé, ensuring seamless import and export of equipment, raw materials, spare parts and finished products during construction and operational phases.

Key responsibilities

• Classify goods using HS codes and prepare customs declarations for all inbound and outbound shipments.
• Manage import clearance for equipment, samples, raw/auxiliary materials and construction supplies.
• Handle export procedures, including customs declaration, certificate of origin applications and coordination of inspections or quarantines.
• Liaise with Togolese port and airport customs authorities to resolve inspections, queries, valuation and sampling issues.
• Coordinate local customs brokers, freight forwarders and shipping lines, evaluate vendors and control service quality and costs.
• Develop and maintain customs Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and a customs compliance management framework.
• Respond to customs audits, organize documentation, accompany inspectors and implement corrective actions.
• Monitor updates to Togo’s customs laws, assess impact on operations and report findings to management.
• Maintain an import/export statistics ledger, archive declarations, bills of lading, invoices and related documents for audit traceability.

Required profile

• Proven experience in full‑chain customs management for industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Strong knowledge of Togolese customs regulations, classification, valuation and origin rules.
• Ability to work autonomously, coordinate multiple external partners and manage budgets.
• Excellent analytical skills to interpret customs data and support decision‑making.
