Deputy Director, National Innovation Agency

About the role

The Deputy Director will help shape and execute Togo’s national innovation agenda, working closely with the Ministry of Public Service Efficiency and Digital Transformation. This senior position leads the newly created National Innovation Agency and its flagship Tech Hub, driving digital transformation across public services and the broader economy.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the national innovation strategy in line with the government’s digital transformation goals.
• Coordinate ecosystem actors, including public institutions, private sector partners, and international donors.
• Oversee the Tech Hub as a centre of excellence for research, entrepreneurship and digital talent development.
• Manage a national knowledge network linking innovation pods in all 117 municipalities, providing business advisory, training programmes and market intelligence.
• Support startups and SMEs through mentorship, access to funding and market‑relevant innovation initiatives.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in public‑sector innovation, digital transformation or technology‑focused development programmes.
• Strong understanding of ecosystem coordination and stakeholder engagement at national and local levels.
• Ability to work in a multicultural, multilingual environment and communicate effectively with government officials and international partners.
