About the role
NTU International is seeking a Senior Gender and Inclusive Transport Expert to support the EU‑funded Technical Assistance to ECOWAS in Transport Governance. The role will focus on integrating gender equality and social inclusion into transport policies, infrastructure planning, and regional connectivity initiatives across West Africa.
Key responsibilities
- Support the integration of gender equality and social inclusion considerations into transport policies, infrastructure projects, and corridor governance initiatives.
- Provide technical assistance on inclusive transport systems, gender‑responsive infrastructure planning, and equitable mobility approaches.
- Conduct gender and social inclusion assessments related to transport infrastructure and regional connectivity projects.
- Develop inclusive transport policies, action plans, and operational frameworks.
- Advise ECOWAS institutions and Member States on gender mainstreaming, vulnerable groups, and inclusive governance mechanisms.
- Promote the participation of women, youth, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable populations in transport planning and decision‑making.
- Prepare social analyses, policy recommendations, safeguard documentation, and inclusion strategies.
- Coordinate with public institutions, civil society organisations, development partners, and regional stakeholders.
- Deliver workshops, consultations, and capacity‑building activities on gender equality and inclusive transport.
- Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and evaluation of inclusion and gender‑mainstreaming activities.
Required profile
- Master’s degree in gender studies, social sciences, transport planning, development studies, sociology, public policy or a related field.
- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in gender equality, social inclusion, transport governance or development programmes.
- At least 7 years of experience specifically in gender mainstreaming, inclusive infrastructure or social inclusion initiatives.
- Proven experience working on infrastructure, transport or social development projects in developing countries, preferably in Sub‑Saharan Africa.
- Experience in international development cooperation and donor‑funded programmes.
